Key Points
- Prioritize building and maintaining relationships as they are crucial for business, whether for potential acquisitions or for creating valuable connections that can provide leverage and opportunities.
- Focus on momentum by breaking down long-term strategic plans into measurable, incremental steps to ensure sustained progress and action towards your goals.
- Develop an exit strategy early and keep it in your back pocket, as having the option to sell or go public can be a significant value-creating milestone for your startup, even if you never decide to sell.
Touraj is currently the President & COO of Serve Robotics, shaping the future of sustainable, self-driving delivery. Serve designs, develops, and operates zero-emission robots that serve people in public spaces, starting with food delivery.
Prior to Serve Robotics, Touraj founded Jaxtr; a startup founded back in 2005 which brought free calling and texting over the internet to mobile phones. And after a few years, it was doing quite well with over 10 million registered users and successfully raised over $20 million from top silicon valley firms. But then the 2008-2009 recession hit, and in a very short period, Jaxtr went from a valuation of tens of millions to receiving an acquisition offer for under 1 million.
So today, Touraj Parang joins the show to discuss his newly released book Exit Path - How to Win The Startup End Game, published by McGraw-Hill, and how to exit as a startup successfully.
